Ewa Benesz worked at the Laboratory Theatre from 1966 to 1968 throughout the development of Ewangelie (Gospels), and joined the company again in the early eighties. Benesz has engaged in a wide range of performance experiments, including an independent project that entailed memorizing half of the epic poem Pan Tadeuszby Polish Romantic author Adam Mickiewicz and performingthis text from village to village as she walked along the Eastern border of Poland. She also engaged in a sixteen-year collaboration with Rena Mirecka focused on paratheatrical research in which relationship to nature was central. Benesz has since been conducting independent creative work focusing on the ancient roots of theatre and based on simple actions connected to nature.
