Fava, Antonio

Practitioner

Antonio Fava joined Dario Fo in Nuova Scena in 1968, then moved to France, working first with the Théâtre Nationale de Strasbourg as an actor-musician. After studying and teaching at the Lecoq School, he returned to Italy to found the Teatro del Vicolo with Dina Buccino. After extensive international touring, the company became the umbrella organisation for Antonio’s various solo activities as actor, director, writer, flautist, mask-maker and teacher. Recently, his children have joined him in performance, thus continuing the tradition of commedia as a family affair. In February 2013 he will give a masterclass at an international conference “Crossing Boundaries: Commedia dell’ Arte across Gender, Genre, and Geography” in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, where John Rudlin is to give the keynote speech.
