Complicité is an international touring theatre company, based in London and led by Artistic Director Simon McBurney and Producer Judith Dimant. Since it was founded in 1983 by Annabel Arden, Marcello Magni and McBurney, the Company has toured the world and helped to shape the landscape of contemporary theatre.

The Company is famous for a distinctive blend of highly physical, visual theatre and is also known for making its work through extensive periods of research and development and collaborative devising, bringing together performers, designers, writers, artists and specialists from diverse fields to create the works.

While the main body of work has been theatre - devised pieces, adaptations and revivals of classic texts including Measure for Measure and The Chairs- the Company also works in other media. Its vision is to create work that foregrounds the crucial meeting of minds, the complicity between the performer and the audience, that is at the heart of the theatrical experience, and opera, film, installation, publishing, radio, participatory art and the internet have all been sites for pursuing this vision.

Learning and engagement are also central to its work: the award-winning Creative Learning programme provides opportunities for students, teachers and theatremakers to train with its Associates, as well as producing projects in collaboration with people who have limited access to theatre.
