Yola Yulfianti is a dance artist who was born and still lives in Jakarta Indonesia. She is a lecturer at the Graduate School of the Jakarta Arts Institute. She learned dance in elementary school, then finished her dance education at the Jakarta Arts Institute, continuing in the master’s program for urban arts and cultural industry. In 2017 she completed her doctoral studies at the Indonesian Institute of Arts Surakarta. In 2012, Yola received an offer to join a project at the slum in Penjaringan Jakarta. This project was an eye-opening experience for her and, in Payau # 2 Waterproof, she took the opportunity to spotlight the human consequences of the scarcity of clean water. Since then, Yola has observed the difficulties of living in a big city through the sensitivity of the body of a dancer and expressed through the language of dance.
